An employee of, Zongmei Construction, Chinese Company on Wednesday died of injuries he sustained after being attacked in a Gulu night club last night.
Ssali Wasswa, a resident of Kamuli District succumbed to injuries at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital where he was taken after being stabbed.
The attacker used a knife to stab Wasswa in the back during a fight in Buganda Pub, a popular bar in Gulu town. The incident happened at about 4am on Tuesday.
Mr Martin Okoyo, the Gulu District Police Commander, says the suspect fled the crime scene after accomplishing his heinous mission.
Mr Okoyo said although the suspect is on the run, he has been identified. He says four people who work at the night club have been arrested to help police investigate the crime.
According to Mr Okoyo, the four are likely to face charges of criminal negligence after police established that they failed to institute and implement basic security checks at the entrance of the club to deter revellers from entering with weapons.
He said the management of the night club is also under similar investigation.
In 2002, assailants assessed Opit Travellers’ Inn and Discotheque and opened fire on revellers killing some and injuring scores.
Management changed the business name of the club to Buganda Pub.
