Uganda to face Kenya in Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifier

KAMPALA – National women’s football team, the Crested Cranes, will begin open their quest for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers with neighbours Kenya.

The two sides will face off in the in the first round of qualification next year in February with Kenya hosting the first leg.

The team that qualifies after both legs will meet Equatorial Guinea in the final qualification round.

The 2018 edition of the tournament will be held in Ghana from November 17 to December 1st.

The tournament will also double as the qualifiers to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup where the top three teams will qualify.

Ghana qualified automatically as hosts, while the remaining seven spots will be determined by the qualifying rounds, which will begin on February 26, 2018.

Previously, the women’s national team has failed to take part in the qualifiers because FUFA lacked funds.
