Train hits car in Nairobi, two escape unhurt

Two people escaped unhurt after a train hit their vehicle at Mutindwa railway crossing in the capital Nairobi on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred at about 7am when a train headed to city centre from Ruiru encountered traffic on the railway track.

Confirming the incident, Railway police boss Esther Chacha said there was traffic as the train approached and the vehicle was in the middle of the railway line.

“The two were not injured as they managed to jump as the train approached and the train hit the vehicle on the back and dragged it a few metres,” she said.

The people at the accident scene managed to pull the vehicle out of the railway track and the train proceeded to city centre.

The vehicle has been towed to the Buru Buru Police Station.
