Uganda: Nyanzi in court for insulting Museveni’s mother

Makerere University research fellow, Dr Stella Nyanzi who was arrested last Friday over harassing President Museveni when she allegedly insulted his late mother has appeared in court to answer charges of cyber harassment and offensive communication.

Dr Nyanzi was on Wednesday arraigned in before Buganda road court Grade one Magistrate Esther Nahilya and charged for harrassing president when she allegedly insulted his late mother Esteri Kokundeka in a social media post.

The magistrate however said she would be remanded to Luzira prison until November 9 when she will return to court for plea taking before the trial magistrate.

“I’m simply reading the charges to you,” said Ms Nahilya.
