Nairobi, Kenya – Kenya’s electoral machinery is moving ahead amid heightened political tension, with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announcing multiple by-elections in late March. The polls are seen as an early gauge of public sentiment for the ruling UDA party.
UDA leaders have completed a series of internal elections to solidify the party’s structure, while political heavyweights including Musalia Mudavadi and Kithure Kindiki traverse the country to strengthen grassroots support.
