KAMPALA  – Over 45 foreign delegations have confirmed their attendance for President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled for May 12. Entebbe International Airport saw a steady arrival of high-level representatives on Sunday, including delegations from North Africa and the Middle East.

Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda and NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong briefed the press, confirming that between 30,000 and 40,000 people are expected to gather at the Kololo Independence Grounds for the event. The government has declared the inauguration day a public holiday to facilitate the celebrations.

The upcoming term is expected to focus heavily on the commercialization of Uganda’s agricultural sector and the progression of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).

While the capital remains under heavy security, the atmosphere is one of transition toward the “Dee Day” of the inauguration, with the government emphasizing regional stability and economic integration as the primary themes of the next administration.
