DJIBOUTI CITY – President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh was sworn in for a new five-year term on Saturday during a ceremony at the People’s Palace. The inauguration was attended by several heads of state and international delegations, including Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, who represented King Mohammed VI.
Guelleh, who was re-elected in April, took the oath of office promising to continue the modernization of Djibouti’s port and logistics infrastructure.
“We lead the Djiboutian people toward further progress and prosperity,” Guelleh stated in his inaugural address.
International observers noted the presence of high-level representatives from Ethiopia and the Gulf states, underscoring Djibouti’s role as a critical security partner in the Red Sea corridor.
The new administration is expected to focus on digital transformation and expanding the nation’s capacity as a regional transshipment hub.
